Identification of the polymorphisms responsible for increased tolerance to statins

AID Statin Tolerance PCR Kit – Detection of the Most Important Polymorphisms for Statin Metabolism

  • Test results available in as little as 4 hours
  • Control bands on each test strip confirm proper DNA isolation, amplification, and hybridization
  • Automated
  • Evaluation and documentation via AID scanner and software
  • CE IVD

Statins, which lower cholesterol, are among the most commonly prescribed medications. However, their effectiveness and tolerability for patients depend heavily on selecting the right formulation and dosage. Due to genetic polymorphisms, both the absorption and metabolism of the active ingredient can vary significantly among different patients. For successful statin therapy, genotyping these SNPs is extremely helpful, as it guides the selection of formulations and the determination of dosage.

The kit detects SNPs in the SLCO1B1, ABCG2, and ABCB1 genes, each of which encodes different transporter proteins. The described SNPs are associated with a reduced rate of transport of various medications to and from the liver, which poses a risk of overdose.

The AID Statin Tolerance Kit enables the detection of the most important SNPs for optimizing statin therapy.

Characteristics

  • Characterization of five SNPs in the SLCO1B1, ABCG2, and ABCB1 genes
  • Differentiation between heterozygous and homozygous carriers
  • Reverse hybridization kit (Lineprobe Assay) with upstream PCR
  • Sample material: human DNA from citrate- or EDTA-anticoagulated blood
  • Article No. RDB 2280
